Q and A
Q:
Why are we starting a capital campaign?
A: The By Faith initiative is a church-wide effort to raise the money needed for the renovation of the churchs new home at 1360 Conant Street in Maumee. As we prepare this facility to reach people for Christ, the campaign is a way to challenge us to discover Gods will for our lives in a new and exciting dimension in the area of givng.
Q:
Is there a scriptural basis for this type of campaign?
A: Yes. The Bible gives examples of special projects that challenged Gods people to give extra offerings in addition to what they normally gave (Exodus 25, 35 and 1 Chronicles 29).
Q:
What is the campaign timeline?
A: The official launch of the campaign is Sunday, October 23, with a special emphasis for the following four weeks. It is our prayer that God would provide all funds through our pledges within 24 months.
Q:
What will it take for the By Faith initiative to succeed?
A: If each of us will pray, search the scriptures, listen to God, and respond in obedience, the campaign will be successful. But even more importantly, we will accomplish the purposes God has for us as individuals and as a church.
Q:
How much will I be expected to give?
A: There is no set formula for giving. Each of us should begin to seek the Lord for direction on how much He desires to provide through us. Our giving should be above and beyond our tithe and missions offerings and should involve sacrifice as an act of faith on our part. Remember, God doesnt ask us for equal gifts, just equal sacrifice.
Q:
Will my pledge be made public?
A: Individual commitments will not be made public. However the total leadership and congregational commitments will be revealed. Each person will be asked to make a faith promise that is an indication of what finances you believe God will provide through you. Your giving is a covenant between you and God and is based only on His leading. You will not be under any legal obligation to fulfill your faith promise. As the year progresses, you may increase or decrease your commitment, as the Lord leads. It is important to remember that this is not so much an issue of money or buildings as it is about hearing Gods voice, stepping out in faith, and watching as He provides and uses each of us to fulfill His calling for this church!
Q:
Will new members be asked to help fund the campaign?
A: Yes. They are at the heart of this campaign to prepare for them to join this great fellowship. New members will be provided information and encouraged to participate
in the By Faith initiative.
